ABOUT T.J.
T.J. Shanoff is a longtime collaborator and leader in Chicago’s storied sketch comedy and improv scene, most notably as a musical and stage director, writer, and producer for The Second City.
Credits there include the hit, Rod Blagojevich Superstar (music & lyrics), the 50th Anniversary national tour (director), and as musical director, stage director, and writer for countless Second City touring, theatrical, and corporate/industrial productions across the globe.
Off-Broadway, T.J. co-created and directed Blank! The Musical, at New World Stages, and also helmed the Chicago premiere, which ran for a year.
Since 2006, T.J. has served as musical director for the Chicago/Midwest Emmy Awards, and recently concluded a multi-year stint as musical director at the Chicago Magic Lounge.
T.J. has designed, hosted, and produced hundreds of events, fundraisers, and industrials, for companies of all sizes. T.J. regularly works with Indivisible Chicago, where he utilizes improv theory to train canvassers and staff, and is especially grateful to serve as host and auctioneer for Gilda’s Club Chicago, Youth Services of Glenview/Northbrook, and JCYS Chicago.
A die-hard Beatles fan since “Rarities” first appeared on 8-Track tape, T.J. co-hosts The Untitled Beatles Podcast; an irreverent, improv-centered, weekly take on all things Fab Four.
On the air, T.J. has hosted talk shows on WCKG-FM, WLUP-FM, and morning drive on Sporting News Radio.
A native Near North Side Chicagoan, T.J. is a proud alumnus of The Latin School of Chicago, Emerson College, and Harand Camp Of The Theatre Arts.
